15 Charger/Challenger USB hub Install/removal

These are instructions provided by a customer for an easier install/removal of the USB hub than the removing the entire console.

USB Hub Removal/Install

For a Charger, the swap of the hub is MUCH easier. While the same may apply to the Challenger, I can only vouch for the Charger.

Step 1:

Go to the back seat and look for the seams on the sides of the rear air vents behind the center console. They are about 1" back. Using a pry tool, pull at the seams gently and once one edge is snapped out the rest should come off just with light pulls by hand. Do not yank it out as the USB and/or heated seats connector (if equipped) needs to be removed.

Step 2:

Disconnect the USB and/or heated seats connectors. Place bezel to the side.

Step 3:

You will see a vent director panel that has a curved shape with a large opening at the top (to direct air flow out the rear seats). At the bottom, there are 2 Phillips head screws on each side. Simply remove them and then pull the bezel out.

Step 4:

The USB hub is now visible. You can go ahead and remove the 2 connectors by pinching down on the tabs and sliding down.

Step 5:

OPEN THE CENTER CONSOLE LID PRIOR TO CONTINUING.

The hub itself is held in by small tabs. Simply pinch the 2 that are facing you and push up a bit to keep them depressed. Do not force it up, simply nudge it up so they are held down. Then slide your fingers to the opposite side and feel around for the other 2 tabs. Pinch those down and push up. The hub will slide up and out.

To install the new USB hub and reinstall everything simply reverse the steps.

As opposed to removing the entire center console, which can be time consuming, this method takes all of 5-10 minutes.
